EnviroGreen, LLC Spray Foam Insulation was founded with one simple concept in mind... to advance energy efficiency performance through an educational approach and offer Louisiana's only truly green spray foam made from 100% local Louisiana ingredients. This is your home. The rules on what is right and what is wrong should not be ignored and compromised by sales people in the contracting and building industry. You expect representatives of this industry to know their products with at least a minimal amount of building science and what is correct for your home. EnviroGreen maintains a healthy balance of open cell and closed products, along with our 1.2lb hybrid foam. For almost a decade I have heard every argument against closed cell foam from competing spray foam contractors except the real one behind the scenes… that our profit margin shrinks considerably with the use of closed cell. Closed cell foam is a premium product and more expensive material and therefore demands a higher dollar investment. In all other scenarios where there is a vapor barrier, and open cell is not exposed to the exterior it is a superior energy efficient insulating material. However, it has no place under our homes or in any exterior application. Ask spray foam contractors to show you which material they installed under their floors and the floors of their relatives and closest friends. Finally, foam manufacturers provide material warranties only if the spray foam is applied according to proper manufacturer instructions.
One of the largest manufacturers of open cell states:
This same open cell manufacturer also states in its product specifications literature that open cell is not an exterior product::
Looking at the above copied statements, if you put open cell under your home will the foam's performance or any sort of problem arising from improper application be warranted? Will the manufacturer accept liability if the contractor does not install according to manufacturer guidelines?

There are a couple faults with this display such as not having at least 2" thickness of closed cell and trusting that the fiberglass will actually stay in place over any decent length of time. But it does demonstrate something that we felt picture-worthy.
Look at the two cavities at top left. Does it show open cell as an option under a frame floor? It sure does, but only when used in combination with a vapor barrier paint/coating.
